The Phoenix - Listomania (Brat Pack Mashup) Meme

Firstly, Phoenix is just a great group all around.  This track I think does a great job at demonstrating why.  Anyway, so somebody did a smart mashup and people liked it.  Alot.  So much so that it spawned several live remake videos around the country.  I have included ones from Brooklyn and San Francisco for your eyeballs to enjoy.

Pitchfork's Review of Dungen's Ta Det Lugnt

“there’s a major difference between retro and somehow embodying your parents’ vintage zeitgeist”

How did I miss this album for over 5 years?!!

These were made in ‘98 and over a decade later are still some of the best sketches ever! Complete gold.

"… imagine a puddle waking up one morning and thinking, ‘This is an interesting world I find myself in’an interesting hole I find myself in’fits me rather neatly, doesn’t it? In fact it fits me staggeringly well, must have been made to have me in it!’ This is such a powerful idea that as the sun rises in the sky and the air heats up and as, gradually, the puddle gets smaller and smaller, it’s still frantically hanging on to the notion that everything’s going to be alright, because this world was meant to have him in it, was built to have him in it; so the moment he disappears catches him rather by surprise. I think this may be something we need to be on the watch out for."

This is absolutely astounding. It really drives home the powerful message of Carl Sagan’s Pale Blue Dot.

NOTE: I highly recommend turning on HD and watching this in fullscreen.  Also, you may want to turn on the subtitles (closed captioning) as they explain what this amazing computer generated simulation is showing you.  Make sure you can hear the music too!

This is a video of my brother Nick bungee jumping in Nuremberg Stadium where Hitler used to give the Nazi War rallies. He was on tour with 30 Seconds to Mars and was there for the Rock Im Park Music Festival. Notice that the Smashing Pumpkins start their set right as he jumps. By far one of the coolest moments ever caught on tape.
